The woman had evacuated because of heightened tensions on the Cambodia–Thailand border, the station reported.

Preah Sihanouk Provincial Television reported on August 25 that a 105-year-old woman died at 11:30 p.m. on August 21 at an evacuation shelter in Preah Vihear province.
Her lifetime spanned World War II, Cambodia’s struggle for independence from France, the Indochina wars, mass killings under the Khmer Rouge, civil war and the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict from 2008 to 2011.
She had recently been forced to leave home for the shelter because of tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
The station reflected on a life spanning a century of war and displacement as well as peace and hope. It said her death was a reminder of what ordinary people endure in conflict and of the value of peace and security.
