Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan met King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk at Zhongnanhai on August 26.

Preah Sihanouk Provincial Television reported on August 26 that Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan met Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk at Zhongnanhai that morning. The King was invited to China for events marking the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Xi welcomed the Cambodian royals and said the two countries’ time-tested friendship was a valuable asset. He urged closer cooperation and faster progress on a China–Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era, and said China would support Cambodia’s choice of development path.
The King and Queen Mother welcomed the invitation and praised Xi’s earlier state visit. They said Cambodia would continue to take a strategic view of bilateral ties and work with China to build an all-weather community with a shared future in the new era.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended.
