It agreed in principle to grant incentives, concessions and procedural assistance to 17 investment and business projects in the province. Hean Sahib, adviser to the prime minister and chair of the working group, chaired the meeting.\nThe 17 projects approved in principle for special government incentives include six involving stalled buildings and 11 new projects. Their estimated combined investment is US$257 million, with approximately 1,780 jobs expected.\nThe projects include an agritourism resort, facilities for manufacturing and processing decorative items and furniture, a university, a hospital and a solar power plant. The group will help with procedures, coordinate with relevant parties, resolve problems and respond to requests to move investments forward quickly and smoothly.\nHean Sahib thanked the group for nearly two years of active and responsible work on the special programme and for keeping its single coordination mechanism responsive.\nHe said global and socioeconomic conditions, including Cambodian–Thai border tensions and the reduction in the US reciprocal tariff rate to 19%, posed challenges as well as opportunities. Cambodia should redouble efforts to retain existing investors and attract new ones by creating a favourable investment climate.\n\nHe said the border dispute had affected supply chains, production, labour flows, consumer demand, and imports and exports, particularly inputs for local production and the shift towards using Cambodian goods in place of imports.\nHe said the group should monitor and support investment and respond proactively and promptly to challenges faced by private businesses through its existing mechanism, so as to advance investment and economic activity in the province.\nHe also called for renewed tourism growth, investment to increase local production and employment, more production for overseas markets, and greater use of domestically produced goods and inputs.\nFrom 2024 through August 2025, the group agreed in principle to grant incentives to 375 projects with estimated investment of US$7.891 billion and about 56,700 potential jobs. These included 176 projects involving stalled buildings, 161 new projects, 25 expansions and 13 existing projects.\nThe group urged business operators and investors to apply promptly for special benefits, including tax incentives, administrative coordination and simpler investment procedures.\nInvestors can reach the Preah Sihanouk office on National Road 4, Village 3, Sangkat 1, Sihanoukville, at (+855) 12 902 200, (+855) 89 726 028 or (+855) 16 321 010.
