It invoked international law and urged countries to avoid actions that could facilitate aggression or destabilise the region.\nThe committee alleged that Thai military aircraft had previously harmed Cambodian civilians in border fighting. It warned of a recurrence if the aircraft were used in military operations and urged Sweden to prioritise its human rights and peace commitments in arms sales over financial gain.\nSweden’s foreign ministry supported the deal, citing the defence industry and international cooperation. Thailand is the third country to procure the Gripen E/F after Sweden and Brazil. Sweden said its parliament had authorised agreements with Thailand for the sale of up to 12 Gripen E/F aircraft.\nThe committee said the sale was at odds with Sweden’s reputation for promoting human rights and peace. It urged Sweden to avoid worsening regional tensions.
