Beth Van Duyne praised Cambodia’s economic progress in August 28 talks with Hun Manet. The two sides discussed trade, investment and security.

Texas Representative Beth Van Duyne led a US congressional delegation to talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace on August 28. Georgia Representative Richard McCormick and Virginia Representative Suhas Subramanyam joined her.
Van Duyne praised Cambodia’s resilient growth, macroeconomic stability and low inflation over recent decades and welcomed government policies to attract foreign investment.
She welcomed progress in US–Cambodian relations, particularly in trade and investment, and committed to helping strengthen and expand bilateral ties.
Hun Manet said the visit would advance bilateral relations and cooperation. He attributed Cambodia’s economic growth to peace and stability and thanked the US government for its August 1, 2025 decision to reduce tariffs on Cambodian imports to 19 percent.
He outlined government policies and reforms, including streamlined investment registration, the government–private sector forum to address business concerns, practical investment policies and incentives to attract more foreign investors.
Hun Manet and Van Duyne also discussed deeper cooperation on security and defence, cross-border crime and the repatriation of Cambodian nationals from the United States.
