In a letter to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Hun Manet renewed Cambodia’s commitment to peaceful settlement and respect for international law.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed to Malaysian Prime Minister and 2025 ASEAN chair Anwar Ibrahim that Cambodia remains committed to settling border disputes with neighbours peacefully and respecting international law.
In a letter to Anwar for Malaysia’s 68th National Day, made public on August 29, Hun Manet congratulated the prime minister, government and people of Malaysia. He called Malaysia a model of national unity and harmony with a significant regional and international role.
Hun Manet said Cambodia and Malaysia had cooperated closely for decades. Their relationship and partnership, founded on mutual respect, trust and longstanding cooperation, had grown through joint efforts.
He said shared views and interests would continue to strengthen relations, benefit both peoples and help build the ASEAN Community.
Hun Manet thanked Malaysia, as 2025 ASEAN chair, for its continued support and proactive help in addressing the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute. He said Anwar’s contribution to the August 7 extraordinary General Border Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur had brought renewed hope for lasting regional peace.
Hun Manet added that Cambodia remained committed to peaceful coexistence and harmony in the region and would pursue peaceful solutions to all border disputes with neighbours in full respect of international law.
