The Kunming service opened August 26. Flights from Sihanoukville to Shenzhen and Macau were scheduled to start on September 25 and October 2.

Preah Sihanouk Provincial Television, September 2 — Sihanouk International Airport, also known as Kang Keng Airport, has started direct flights to Kunming and announced two more international routes to Shenzhen and Macau for 2025. The new services strengthen its role as a regional air hub and coastal tourism gateway.
China’s Ruili Airlines launched twice-weekly direct flights to Kunming on August 26. Air Cambodia plans to start flights from Sihanoukville to Shenzhen on September 25, and Cambodia’s Sky Angkor Airlines plans to start its Macau service on October 2.
At the time of the report, the airport’s direct destinations included Siem Reap, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Kunming and Wuxi. The larger network makes it easier for international visitors to reach Cambodia’s coast and supports local tourism and the regional economy.
Built in the 1960s with Soviet assistance, the airport closed during the war and reopened in January 2007. It is one of Cambodia’s four international airports and plays a growing role in coastal tourism and economic development.
