Preah Sihanouk assigned officers to key locations on September 4 to direct traffic, following Interior Minister Sar Sokha’s instruction against setting up checkpoints to fine road users.

Preah Sihanouk province. To implement instructions from Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha, provincial police chief Lieutenant General Sar Ratha on September 4, 2025, assigned road traffic officers led by Lieutenant Colonel នី ចាន់ណារ៉ា, head of the provincial road traffic police office. Officers were stationed at the office, posts P1, P4 and P6, traffic lights along Independence Avenue (Street 100), along Ochheuteal Beach, at the end of Ochheuteal Beach 2 and at the beach road junction near restroom No. 3.
Under Sar Sokha’s instructions, traffic police nationwide were barred from setting up checkpoints to fine road users in any type of vehicle. Border tensions had prompted people in border provinces to evacuate to safety. Road traffic police were to help direct traffic only.
The effort was intended to explain traffic rules and road safety, discourage driving against traffic and prevent congestion and accidents.
