India’s ambassador to Cambodia, Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, said he welcomed the chance to expand media cooperation with the Club of Cambodian Journalists and use it to promote ties in other areas, particularly tourism, culture and investment.\nBawitlung made the remarks on the morning of September 4 during a courtesy call and working discussion with Puy Kea, president of the Club of Cambodian Journalists, following the ambassador’s appointment to Cambodia.\nPuy Kea told the ambassador the club had existed for more than 25 years. It had more than 600 active members practising journalism at nearly 200 organisations nationwide.\nPuy Kea said the club provided journalists with professional skills and ethics training and organised courses in other essential skills, especially information technology. It also regularly held media forums with public institutions, the private sector, civil society organisations and embassies, and arranged visits for journalists to areas with development potential across Cambodia.\nTo expand those activities, Puy Kea asked the Indian Embassy to consider helping train Cambodian journalists in several essential skills, especially information technology.\nBawitlung said that during his seven months working in Cambodia, he had seen rapid development across all sectors compared with 2009, when he first visited.\nHe said India and Cambodia had similar cultures and traditions, notably in their use of Sanskrit. Indians who had come to Cambodia had enjoyed living there, particularly in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. He said arrivals from India remained limited compared with other countries in the region.\nHe hoped the Indian Embassy and the Club of Cambodian Journalists could work together to promote both countries’ tourism and culture and attract more visitors from India to Cambodia.\nSource: Club of Cambodian Journalists\nEdited by: ចិន្តា ទីទិ","contentScope":"full","proof":{"publishedSourceRevision":"1","publishedWorkingVersionId":"18637","languageVersionId":"18927","visibilityVersion":"2","versionToken":"a1.NsHv15zuBHxowozFfv9BcVNxTaBBWVytaGBM6Qv-fZQ"},"availableLocales":["zh","en","km"],"attributes":{"sourceLocale":"km","translationKind":"machine","nodeId":"12","authorText":"","sourceName":""},"references":[],"links":[],"publishedAt":"2025-09-04T10:01:47Z"}
