Preah Sihanouk reviewed its CCA4CS climate-adaptation project on October 21, 2025, as it prepared for closure. The project uses small-scale infrastructure in coastal settlements.

(Preah Sihanouk Province): On October 21, 2025, Deputy Governor Long Dimanche, vice-chair of the CCA4CS project management committee, held a meeting to assess the results of the project “Climate Change Adaptation through Small-Scale Infrastructure Interventions in Coastal Settlements of Cambodia”. Heads of departments and units and representatives of local authorities attended.
The project has a four-year implementation period. The Department of Climate Change under the Ministry of Environment’s General Directorate of Policy and Strategy is the responsible agency, with UN-Habitat serving as the coordinating agency. Its main objectives are to strengthen climate adaptation and resilience in Cambodia’s most vulnerable coastal settlements through adaptation activities, particularly in areas with nature-tourism potential. Its achievements include:
• Restoration of 58.9 hectares of mangroves.
• Protection against saltwater intrusion through repairs to sluice gates and canals.
• Climate-resilient housing design and construction of seven model houses for vulnerable poor families in Prey Nob District, Preah Sihanouk Province.
• Installation of drainage and rainwater systems at Veal Renh Market, Prey Nob District, Preah Sihanouk Province.
• Installation of a weather station and a tide-level gauge linked to an early-warning system in អូរឧកញ៉ាហេង Commune, Prey Nob District, Preah Sihanouk Province.
The deputy governor praised the project’s results, saying it was a positive response to climate adaptation needs in the area and aligned with Phase I of the Pentagonal Strategy of Cambodia’s seventh-mandate government under Prime Minister Hun Manet.
