Ten people were detained for checks after an unmarked boat was found drifting in waters off Rote Ndao.

Indonesian police recently intercepted an unmarked boat in waters off Rote Ndao carrying seven Chinese nationals and three Indonesian crew members suspected of illegal entry. All ten were detained for further investigation.
The Rote Ndao police chief, named in the source as 马迪奥诺, said fishermen found the boat drifting in local southern waters on 26 October. Marine police responded and escorted it to port for checks. Preliminary inquiries indicated that the seven Chinese nationals were suspected of entering through illegal channels and that the three Indonesian crew members might have assisted them.
All those involved were handed over for a joint police and immigration examination, and the boat was impounded for further investigation. Police were investigating whether the case involved people smuggling or other transnational crime.
