The National Bank of Cambodia warned against suspicious links and investment platforms, advertisements impersonating the bank, and offers to buy bank accounts or phone numbers.

The National Bank of Cambodia issued a warning on November 14 urging the public not to trust suspicious links or investment platforms that could cause losses of money, personal data, bank accounts or phone numbers. Scammers were using the bank’s name and logo and photographs of its leadership in fake advertisements to lure people in. Suspicious cases should be reported to the relevant authorities.
The bank cited scams involving impersonation of relatives or friends seeking loans, fake bank or private-company staff, supposed prizes or jobs requiring advance payments, and offers of large payments for bank accounts or phone numbers. It urged the public to remain alert, verify information and avoid handing personal data or accounts to others, which could lead to losses or involvement in unlawful activity.
