Thai media reported on December 8 that Anutin said Thailand would stop all talks with Cambodia and abandon an earlier US-brokered agreement, despite possible US trade tariffs. Cambodia had not formally responded at the time of the report.

According to Thai media reports, Thai Prime Minister Anutin announced on the afternoon of December 8 that Thailand would completely stop all negotiations with Cambodia and abandon the earlier agreement brokered by the United States. He said this was a matter between Thailand and Cambodia, which he called an “enemy”, and stressed that he was not afraid of possible US trade-tariff sanctions.
The report described the move as a further escalation in Cambodia–Thailand relations, already strained by recent border clashes. At the time of the report, Cambodia had not issued a formal response to Thailand’s latest statement.
