Location and the figures’ orientation

KPS99TV’s travel source places the Preah Thong Neang Neak monument (ព្រះថោងនាងនាគ) at the roundabout where Ream Beach Boulevard meets Chumteav Mao Boulevard in Preah Sihanouk. The figures face the Ream sea and show Preah Thong holding and following Neang Neak’s veil.

The 2022 inauguration and different measurements

The source records an inauguration on 16 April 2022. The copper figures themselves are 21 metres tall and weigh about 60 tonnes, while the roundabout is 99 metres in diameter. Figure height and roundabout diameter are different measurements and should not be combined as an overall structure height. Observe from a safe position without lingering in roundabout traffic for photographs.

Links with legend and wedding customs

The source explains the pair’s union as a legendary symbol of the origins of Khmer land, culture, civilisation and traditions. Their seaward orientation is linked to a story of visiting her parents in the Naga realm. These are cultural narratives, not verified state-founding history. The image of a man following a woman’s veil also appears in Cambodian wedding customs as an expression of companionship.
