South Korea is stepping up its response to candidates caught using AI smart glasses to cheat in the national college entrance examination. The measures include criminal penalties and a plan to extend the ban on retaking the exam to up to three years.
South Korea’s Ministry of Education announced the strict measures last Thursday, ahead of the college entrance examination in November.
AI smart glasses have become a major challenge for South Korean authorities following a series of cheating incidents involving the technology. According to South Korean media reports, five cases of cheating using smart glasses were reported between May and June.
To strengthen enforcement, South Korean authorities will deploy 1,312 designated inspectors at examination centres nationwide this year. Text: Rithy
