Construction of the VVIP terminal at Cambodia’s Techo International Airport has entered its final stage, with the project approximately 99% complete. It is expected to be completed in early November and open before the 20th Francophonie Summit. As the summit approaches, Cambodia is accelerating work to improve high-standard reception facilities in preparation for guests from various countries.
The terminal covers nearly seven hectares and includes 17 dedicated VIP lounges, primarily intended to accommodate foreign heads of state, senior government officials and international delegations. The dedicated spaces and supporting services will provide guests with a more comfortable and private place to rest, while also helping improve the efficiency of airport reception for arrivals and departures.
Recently, Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, led officials and a technical team in inspecting construction progress. The construction team is currently carrying out the final finishing work, and the terminal’s specific opening date has not yet been announced.
The 20th Francophonie Summit is expected to take place in Phnom Penh in mid-November, with delegations from multiple countries and regions set to travel to Cambodia to attend. The VVIP terminal will serve as an important reception facility for the summit, providing convenient and comfortable airport services for high-profile international events and further strengthening Cambodia’s capacity to host international conferences and welcome guests from various countries.
