Preah Sihanouk Provincial Television, September 1. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport said the section of Xi Jinping Boulevard between the Road 116A junction at km 2+800 and National Road 1 would close temporarily from this morning until February 1, 2028.
The ministry said the closure was necessary for construction of the Dei Edth–Thma Kor bridge over the Mekong. The bridge’s west end is in Dei Edth commune, Kien Svay district, and its east end in Thma Kor commune, Lvea Em district, both in Kandal province.
Ministry spokesperson Phorn Rim said work on the project was 23% complete.
Phorn Rim said the concrete bridge and approaches would measure 3,700 metres in total. The bridge itself would be 1,600 metres long and 26 metres wide, with four lanes. The 2,100-metre approach roads would be 26 metres wide and paved with asphalt concrete. Construction was scheduled to take 48 months, with completion planned in 2028.
The ministry announced temporary diversions to keep construction on schedule. Light vehicles are to use Road 116A and heavy vehicles Road 12A. National Road 1 remains open where it crosses the project site.
The ministry asked residents, the public, operators and transport companies to cooperate, follow the travel instructions and bear with the inconvenience.
