The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology said a low-pressure system had developed into Tropical Storm Peipah, the 15th storm of the season (T2515). From September 5 to 7, 2025, rain, thunder and gusts were possible in most Cambodian provinces and the capital. The storm’s track was not expected to have a strong direct effect on Cambodia.
The ministry said the storm also affected the Andaman Sea, Gulf of Thailand, Mekong basin, southwest monsoon and Cambodia. Rain, thunder and gusts could cover 40 percent of the lowlands, including Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Kandal, Takeo, Svay Rieng and Phnom Penh.
Rain, thunder and gusts could cover 55 percent of the uplands, including Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri and the Dangrek and Cardamom ranges. In coastal Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep and the Bokor range, they could cover 45 percent of the area, with waves from 0.50 to 1.50 metres.
