Preah Sihanouk Provincial Television, September 6 — Commerce Ministry Secretary of State and spokesperson Penn Sovicheat said on September 5 that Cambodia and China were working to establish an industrial park to attract high-tech industries and upgrade Cambodian manufacturing.
He said the two sides had signed a memorandum of cooperation. China, he noted, had progressed from making traditional consumer goods to advanced manufacturing across many sectors, including aircraft. Drawing on that experience and technology could help Cambodia build a diversified park and move from mid-range to high-end production, accelerating industrial development.
He acknowledged that Cambodia still lagged behind neighbours including Thailand and Vietnam in technology and industry, but said cooperation with an advanced industrial economy such as China could help it make faster progress.
Penn Sovicheat said Cambodia remained open to investors from all countries and would continue to provide a fair and accessible business environment.
