While leading a Cambodian delegation to the 19th International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City, Tourism Minister Huot Hak held a working meeting with Saigontourist Group board representatives led by Truong Duc Hung. The ministry enlisted the major Vietnamese company to help promote and develop Cambodia’s tourism sector.
Saigontourist Group, a leading Vietnamese tourism company founded more than 50 years ago, operates more than 50 star-rated hotels, international-standard golf courses and more than 100 tourism subsidiaries. It has over 200 partners across 30 countries and nearly 20,000 employees.
The group also runs a tourism training school. It aims to welcome more than two million visitors in 2025 and raise revenue to more than 18.8 trillion dong, equivalent to about US$700 million.
The minister said it was the right decision for the group to work with Cambodia’s private tourism sector across its operations. He said it reflected confidence in the Cambodian government’s continued efforts to maintain peace and political, social and economic stability and promote development.
Huot Hak highlighted safety for domestic and international visitors, incentives and priority support for investors, and infrastructure development for tourism.
The first meeting laid the groundwork for direct cooperation between Cambodia’s private tourism sector and the Vietnamese group. The two sides were preparing to hold international tourism promotion events in both countries soon to attract more domestic and foreign visitors.
