According to Cambodian media reports, Sihanoukville police recently helped a South Korean man experiencing mental-health difficulties return home safely for treatment. At about 2:50 p.m. on October 21, Sihanoukville police received a report from a resident that a foreign man near the Golden Lions roundabout appeared distressed, was running around and shouting. Police quickly arrived and took him to the station to verify his identity and make initial inquiries. The following morning, the man’s father, South Korean national KIM YOUNG KOOK, went to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police headquarters to find his 43-year-old son, KIM MINHYEOG. He said his son had mental-health problems and needed to return to South Korea for specialist treatment. After verifying their identities, police authorised the father to take his son safely back to South Korea to ensure he received the necessary medical care. Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police thanked the residents who provided information and helped police intervene promptly. They called on the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement and report unusual situations or suspicious behaviour in a timely manner to help maintain public safety and social order.
