Cambodian media reported on October 25 that Tourism Minister Huot Hak welcomed and supported China Road and Bridge Corporation’s proposal to develop tourism areas along the Funan Techo Canal. The plan aimed to draw on natural and cultural resources along the route and promote the regional tourism economy. The report said CRBC’s representative in Cambodia, 王焕, had recently met the minister to discuss tourism potential and cooperation along the canal. The minister praised Chinese companies’ infrastructure achievements in Cambodia and thanked them for their contribution to socioeconomic development, particularly the recovery of tourism. The minister said the Tourism Ministry would fully support the cooperation project and encourage favourable policies to attract more investors to canal-side tourism development, stimulate provincial economies, improve livelihoods and support poverty reduction.
