Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a regular press conference on November 13 that China was closely following the situation on the Cambodia-Thailand border. China hoped the two sides would exercise restraint and properly handle their differences through dialogue and consultation.
A reporter asked about a landmine incident on November 10, Thailand’s National Security Council decision on November 11 to suspend implementation of the Kuala Lumpur peace declaration, and shooting in Banteay Meanchey on November 12 that caused Cambodian civilian casualties.
Lin said both sides should use bilateral mechanisms to address the issues, avoid escalating the situation and safeguard peace and stability in the border area. China was willing to continue playing a constructive role, he said.
