The United States suspended tariff negotiations with Thailand, drawing regional diplomatic attention. Reuters reported on November 15 that the Office of the US Trade Representative had written to Thailand saying talks would be paused until it fully implemented its peace agreement with Cambodia. Thai Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura confirmed the news in an update. He said the notification arrived shortly after a call between Thai Prime Minister Anutin and US President Donald Trump. The letter said bilateral trade discussions would resume only when Thailand reaffirmed and implemented the joint ceasefire declaration signed with Cambodia. Anutin had repeatedly said Thailand was not afraid of higher US tariffs and would put national interests first. Thailand had previously accused Cambodia of violating the ceasefire, preventing the agreement from progressing as planned. The US move was seen as pressure on Thailand to return to the peace agreement's framework. Diplomatic observers said it could introduce new uncertainties in Thai–US relations and the regional situation, with further developments yet to be seen. Compiled by this station
