At a recent monthly meeting, leaders of the Techo International Airport Police Department again made clear to all officers that no personnel may solicit or accept tips from passengers while on duty. The meeting stressed that such conduct seriously damages the country's image and discipline within law enforcement, and that relevant units must uphold zero tolerance and strengthen self-discipline and oversight.
The meeting noted that the department would continue to improve the overall quality of its force by tightening standards of appearance, regulating duty arrangements and strictly enforcing work reporting procedures. Officers were also encouraged to master new technologies to further improve border services and law enforcement efficiency. The department reiterated that drug use, illegal gambling and other misconduct must be firmly eliminated so the force maintains a healthy, professional and dependable image.
The department also said it would continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Interior and immigration authorities, strengthen border security and focus on combating cross-border offences including forged documents, human trafficking and drug smuggling. It commended officers for their sustained efforts and stressed its commitment to a safe and orderly border clearance environment for passengers travelling through Techo International Airport.
