On the morning of December 8, Cambodia's peace was violated again when Thai troops attacked Cambodian territory. This forced many civilians, particularly pupils who had just arrived at school, to flee in panic. Hun Many said that heavy weapons, artillery and gunfire that morning had caused severe tension and fear among the public. Images showed civilians, particularly pupils who had just arrived at school, running in panic because of the dangerous incident. He also said that Cambodia had always sincerely upheld and protected peace. Cambodia maintained a clear position of resolving border issues peacefully and amicably rather than through military means. Nevertheless, Cambodia also had the legal right to use military means in self-defence if necessary. The report noted that the tension that morning followed the signing of a joint declaration in Kuala Lumpur on October 26, in the presence of President Trump, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
