Since late November, close cooperation between China and Cambodia has led to the rescue of 46 Chinese nationals from several telecom scam compounds in Cambodia. Cambodian authorities are now expediting the procedures for their return to China. The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia again reminds Chinese nationals to remain highly alert to online “high-paying job” traps and avoid being deceived. Scam compounds engage in illegal activities and commonly involve unlawful detention, violent coercion and even crimes threatening personal safety. Do not risk your life by entering such compounds in pursuit of money. If you discover that you or someone around you may be caught up in telecom scams, unlawful detention or other abnormal circumstances in Cambodia, report the matter to the Chinese and Cambodian police as soon as possible and promptly seek assistance from the Chinese Embassy.
