Anutin says Thailand needs no outside advice, even from Trump, on a ceasefire

Anutin reportedly said in an interview the previous night that Cambodia must seek a ceasefire directly through formal channels, rather than third-party mediation. He rejected an externally proposed 10 p.m. ceasefire and demanded a written proposal and a complete halt to Cambodian military action.

In an interview the previous night, Thai Prime Minister Anutin said that if Cambodia wanted a ceasefire it must ask Thailand directly, rather than seek other countries’ leaders to intervene in negotiations. He stressed that a ceasefire could only be pursued through formal channels, not outside pressure or third-party mediation. Anutin said Thailand had suffered invasion and security threats and was therefore taking necessary and legitimate military action to protect national sovereignty and people’s safety. He said Thailand should not be swayed by outsiders and did not need any country’s advice, “even Donald Trump is no exception”. He called the suddenly proposed “ceasefire at 10 tonight” unacceptable. He further said that Cambodia must submit a formal written ceasefire proposal to Thailand and completely stop all military operations before there could be talks about a ceasefire. At the time of reporting, Thai forces were still attacking Cambodia and the fighting continued to intensify, the report said. Compiled by this station
