Summary

Local authorities in Preah Vihear reported that six wild elephants entered farmland to feed and damaged rice crops.

On the afternoon of October 29, 2026, a herd of six wild elephants was spotted feeding on and damaging farmers’ rice at the ត្រពាំងច្រឹក paddy-field area, approximately two kilometres south of កោងយ៉ោង village in យាង commune, Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province.

According to local authorities, these six elephants belong to the herd that previously moved out of Tbeng Meanchey district. Notably, they now appear less afraid or wary of people than when they lived in Tbeng Meanchey district. By: Pai Sokhim
