Following instructions from Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha, immigration director-general Sok Veasna directed the Department of Investigation and Procedures to deport 57 Vietnamese nationals, including 15 women, on November 13, 2025. They were sent home through Banteay Chakrei International Checkpoint in Prey Veng province. The cases involved unlawful residence and work, including online scams, and a lack of passports.

The deportees had been transferred by the anti-drug department and police in Phnom Penh, Svay Rieng and Preah Sihanouk. Their cases included drug use, gas cylinders suspected of being used for ‘happy balloons’, unlawful residence and work, and individuals who had completed prison terms for drug possession or use.
