US President Donald Trump recently reaffirmed in a call with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet that he would closely follow the Cambodia–Thailand border situation and continue helping prevent a new armed conflict. The remarks reflected Washington's continuing attention to regional stability.
According to Hun Manet, Trump expressed a clear and firm wish for lasting peace between Cambodia and Thailand and readiness to remain involved in coordination to strengthen the ceasefire framework. He said the United States would follow developments with a careful and sustained approach to avoid renewed tensions or violence along the border.
Hun Manet thanked Trump for his earlier role in facilitating the ceasefire and the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration. He said Cambodia would continue fully implementing the declaration and addressing border issues with Thailand through established mechanisms. Trump's renewed commitment reflected continuing US engagement in regional peace and could help further peaceful resolution of the dispute, he said.
