The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued an urgent warning on the 14th, urging users nationwide to guard against phishing links impersonating Telegram that were spreading rapidly on social media. The highly convincing fake links had appeared across multiple platforms and posed a serious threat to account security.
According to the report, offenders were sending large quantities of fake system notices and account-abnormality warnings to lure users into clicking malicious links. Entering a phishing page could quickly lead to loss of control of a Telegram account, suspension or permanent loss of access. Law enforcement said the techniques were evolving, leaving ordinary users vulnerable without warning.
The ministry urged people not to click links from unknown sources or enter verification codes, phone numbers or other sensitive information on suspicious sites. It advised checking information through official channels and promptly reporting suspicious links or scams to relevant authorities to help protect the online environment.
