Summary

During a December 2, 2025 inspection, Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth urged landfill managers to use the existing site efficiently and to technical standards, extend its service life and plan a new site.

Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth recently told the managers of the landfill referred to in the source as “奥塔赛” to work closely with the relevant authorities and make full use of its existing disposal area in line with technical standards. He said incoming waste volumes had increased year after year. Without preparation and sound planning, the site would quickly reach capacity, affecting future waste-disposal arrangements. He urged managers to adopt more efficient technical methods to extend the landfill's operating life and allow time for a new site to be built.

The instructions were given during an on-site inspection of waste storage and treatment in the “奥塔赛” area on the afternoon of December 2, 2025. The governor was accompanied by deputy governors, provincial administration representatives, relevant municipal leaders and specialist agencies. He said site inspections were an important step in ensuring technically compliant waste management and driving improvements.

According to the information provided, the “奥塔赛” landfill occupies more than 68 hectares. The area brought into use in the first phase covers 17 hectares and includes four large disposal cells, each exceeding 100 metres on each side, with a combined area of about seven hectares. Supporting facilities include fencing, guard posts, machinery sheds and sorting warehouses. The provincial government said it would continue ensuring that the site operated to technical standards to extend its service life, while planning and developing a new landfill for the future.
