Cambodia delivered a clear message to more than 50 countries across all continents that it is a safe, welcoming tourism destination, inviting Chinese and international visitors to travel with confidence. Tourism Minister Huot Hak made the remarks while leading a delegation to the opening of the ninth Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo in Dunhuang, Gansu province, China, on November 3, 2026. More than 400 leaders, international organization representatives and distinguished guests from over 50 countries attended, including Gansu provincial Party Secretary Wu Xiaojun, World Intellectual Property Organization Director General Daren Tang, UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia Director Shahbaz Khan and other senior officials.
In his address, the minister congratulated the organizers on eight successful previous editions and thanked the Gansu provincial and Dunhuang municipal administrations for providing an important platform for cultural exchange and international cooperation. He highlighted the two countries’ shared heritage potential: Gansu has the Mogao Caves, while Cambodia has Angkor Wat and many other historic temples, all valuable cultural treasures of humanity. In this context, the “Dialogue between the Mogao Caves and Angkor Wat” initiative was presented as an important means of advancing exchanges between civilizations and strengthening Cambodia–China tourism cooperation, in keeping with the spirit of building an all-weather Cambodia–China community with a shared future in the new era. The expo also provides a platform for expanding people-to-people ties, mutual learning and links between tourism and culture.
Huot Hak also said Cambodia was fully prepared to welcome Chinese and international visitors, providing a safe environment and warm hospitality for stays, leisure and business. The year 2026 marks the 68th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, providing a foundation for further cooperation in areas including tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
