Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued guidance urging people to assemble emergency supply kits in preparation for natural disasters and other unforeseen incidents.
The department encouraged every household to have food, daily necessities and essential equipment ready for 72 hours to prepare for possible disasters or emergencies.
It recommended six categories of essentials for each household’s emergency bag: medicines and medical supplies; food and drinking water; communications equipment; important documents and cash; hygiene supplies; and clothing.
The department said advance preparation helps people cope not only with situations involving international conflicts but also with natural disasters and other emergencies, including floods, landslides, earthquakes, epidemics and human-caused incidents such as fires, demonstrations and terrorism.
