Tboung Khmum beekeeper attributes lower honey harvest to heat and pesticides

ហ៊ន់ សៀងហៃ, who runs a bee farm in Tboung Khmum, says this year’s honey harvest and prices are below previous years. He attributes the lower yield to extreme heat and spraying in nearby plantations, and puts current prices at KHR50,000–60,000 per litre. The reported 300-plus hives and monthly supply of 5,000–6,000 litres concern his farm.

Another sea turtle released in Kep in what officials describe as the eighth release operation

Kep fisheries officials say another accidentally caught sea turtle was tagged and returned to the sea, in the eighth local release operation, with more than ten turtles released cumulatively. They encourage fishermen’s participation in conservation; reports of rare animals returning are local observations.

Cambodia and Canada discuss deeper trade ties and a proposed chamber representative office

Prime Minister Hun Manet met Canadian Ambassador Christian DesRoches at the Peace Palace on April 20. They discussed trade, investment, defence, security and transnational crime. Cambodia said it had instructed relevant bodies to pursue a chamber representative office in Canada; the ASEAN–Canada free trade agreement remained under negotiation.

Royal Palace Ministry reports King’s surgery in Beijing and continued postoperative care

The Ministry of the Royal Palace said King Norodom Sihamoni underwent successful surgery in Beijing on April 20 and had left the operating room while remaining under medical care. The King had previously disclosed a prostate cancer diagnosis. The report says he will continue treatment and recovery in China and return on medical advice.
